Super Berry Breakfast Bars

We love breakfast and are always looking for something new to try. When Jordans sent us their new variety of Country Crisp – a blend of oats, blackcurrants, cranberries and blueberries, I thought they would be perfect for this flapjack-type breakfast bar. It’s not amazingly good for your health – lots of sugar and butter in it, as you’ll see below – but as a treat on a morning when you’re too rushed for a bowl of cereal, it’s great. They also make good afternoon tea snacks.

Serves 6

  • 200g Golden syrup
  • 200g Sugar
  • 200g Butter
  • 200g Jordan’s Country Crisp Super Berry
  • 200g Regular oats

Set the oven to 180C.

In a saucepan, mix together the golden syrup, butter and sugar over a low heat and stir until melted together and smooth.

Take the saucepan off the heat and mix in the dry ingredients until well mixed.

Add the mixture to a baking tray or dish and press it down with the back of a spoon until it is compact and flat all over.

Cook in the oven for 15-20 minutes or until golden.
