Fire and Stone Spitalfields is a modern pizza restaurant located in the revamped Old Spitalfields Market. The venue is large and spacious with natural, simplistic decor and also benefits from outside seating for those warm summer evenings – perfect for enjoying some fuss free food in amongst the hustle and bustle.

We visited on a Saturday when the market wasn’t on, but it was still fairly busy with a nice buzz. During week days local trade, market shoppers and office workers pour in, but with 160 seats there’s always going to be a spare spot and plenty of staff on hand.

Inside the décor is warm, dimly lit and relaxing, with the main focal point being an open plan kitchen where they prepare and cook the pizzas. Due to it’s modern style it attracts the young, cool and trendy with most people dressed smart casual.

The menu is a pizza lovers dream with too many possible variations to count! There are different world themes, like Africa, Europe, Australia, Italy and America and some pretty experimental variations under each theme. If you’re having trouble making up your mind you can choose to build your own, or ask a waiter for help. They were friendly and keen to offer recommendations and assistance whenever needed.

If you fancy something other than pizza, then there’s salad and pasta too. I opted for a goats cheese salad as a starter, which was fresh, vibrant and very nice indeed. The pasta I had for my main had a very rich and filling sauce, which is sure to fill a grumbling tummy.

We couldn’t come all this way and not try a pizza! After finishing off a bruchetta starter, which despite being a recommendation was a little over dressed, my partner had a margherita pizza (the true test!), made to perfection and also very filling.

On the whole the menu is reasonably priced, with starters being around £6 and the pizzas being around £9 each. There’s a good selection of drinks, including cocktails, spirits juices and soft drinks. With the portion sizes being so good, it’s great value for money. Even more so if you take advantage of one of the special offers on their website.
