Simple tomato sauce
This is a really quick and easy recipe for tomato sauce, ideal for putting on a pizza, or mixing with pasta.
Enough sauce for 2-3 12″ pizzas
- ½ onion, diced
- 3 garlic cloves, finely chopped
- 1 tin plum tomatoes
- squeeze of tomato puree
- 1 handful of fresh basil, chopped
- salt and pepper
Gently fry the onions and garlic in a saucepan for 4-5 minutes. Add the plum tomatoes and tomato puree, stir, turn down the heat and allow to bubble for 15 minutes until it’s slightly reduced. Add the basil, a little salt and pepper. Allow to cool before mixing with a hand held blender.
